kxaddrBlock
Module: CT-ELS100-MIB
OID (symbolic): CT-ELS100-MIB::kxaddrBlock
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.8.5.12
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: OCTET STRING
Access: read-write
Description: A series of 0-700 octets, which represents 0-100 addresses. Each address consists of a 6 octet MAC address followed by a 1 byte port number. If the port number is zero, then the address is that of a specially configured address; otherwise, the address is a dynamically learned address. This parameter is only used for dumping blocks of MAC addresses
What is kxaddrBlock?
This read-write OCTET STRING packs up to 100 addresses, 0 to 700 bytes total, as 6-byte MAC-plus-1-byte-port entries, used specifically for bulk-dumping blocks of the switch's MAC address table, where a port number of zero flags a specially configured address rather than a dynamically learned one. An admin's management script reads this after a read-block operation to retrieve many address table entries in one SNMP exchange rather than walking them one at a time, and can distinguish specially configured addresses from learned ones by checking each entry's port byte for zero. For example, a script performing a full address-table export would repeatedly issue read-block(6) operations and parse each returned kxaddrBlock buffer into individual MAC-address-plus-port records, flagging any entry with a zero port byte as a specially configured address rather than one learned from live traffic.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.8.5.12 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> CT-ELS100-MIB::kxaddrBlock
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.8.5.12.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> CT-ELS100-MIB::kxaddrBlock.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.97.8.5.12.1 s <value>
