cpqSeFixedDiskIndex

Module: CPQSTDEQ-MIB

OID (symbolic): CPQSTDEQ-MIB::cpqSeFixedDiskIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.1.2.12.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: An index that uniquely specifies this entry. Each possible
index value indicates a specific drive as shown in the table
below:

    fixedDiskIndex   IDE/ESDI Controller  Drive Unit
    =============   ===================  ==========
        0               Primary             1
        1               Primary             2
        2               Secondary           1
        3               Secondary           2

Any other index value would be implementation specific.

What is cpqSeFixedDiskIndex?

This OID is the unique index identifying a fixed disk entry, where each index value corresponds to a specific IDE/ESDI controller channel and drive unit, such as index 0 for the primary controller's first drive and index 2 for the secondary controller's first drive. An admin uses this mapping to know exactly which physical drive bay and controller channel a given row's cylinder, head, and capacity fields describe. For example, index 2 would describe the drive attached as unit 1 on the secondary IDE/ESDI controller, distinct from index 0 which describes unit 1 on the primary controller.
