Access: read-only

Description: This is the current configuration of the Smart Cover sensor.

The following values are currently defined:

other(1) Smart Cover sensor is not supported on this system or cannot be determined by the Insight Agent. You may need to upgrade your software.

disabled(2) Smart Cover sensor will not detect a hood removal and cpqSiHoodRemovedTime will not be updated.

notifyUser(3) Smart Cover sensor will detect a hood removal and will display a message at POST for the user.

adminPasswordProtected(4) Smart Cover sensor will detect a hood removal and will display a message at POST for the user to enter the Admin Password. The system will not boot until proper password is entered.

What is cpqSiHoodSensorConfiguration?

This read-only integer shows how the Smart Cover sensor is configured: unsupported/undetermined, disabled, notify the user, or admin-password protected. It matters because when set to disabled(2) the sensor will never update cpqSiHoodRemovedTime, so an admin relying on tamper detection needs to know this setting before trusting that field. For example, an admin standardizing chassis-intrusion policy across a rack finds one server reporting disabled(2) and re-enables notifyUser(3) so future hood removals get flagged.
