What is snmpSnmpSecurityLevel?
This read-write enumerated INTEGER selects the SNMP security model in use, with values v1(0), v2c(1), v3 with no authentication(2), v3Auth(3) for authentication only, and v3AuthPriv(4) for authentication plus encryption, per the object's own description. An admin raises this setting to require stronger security, moving from the unauthenticated, unencrypted community-string model up to fully authenticated and encrypted SNMPv3 traffic for sensitive PDU control operations. For example, a data center enforcing an encryption mandate for all management traffic sets snmpSnmpSecurityLevel to v3AuthPriv(4) so both authentication and privacy keys (snmpSnmpAuthPasswd and snmpSnmpPrivPasswd) are required for any SNMP session.
