This object holds the route distinguisher, an 8-byte value used in MPLS/BGP VPNs to make routes from this VPN customer instance unique across the provider network even when customers use overlapping private address space. An administrator configuring a new VRF must set this correctly, since a duplicate or missing route distinguisher can cause route ambiguity or route leaking between unrelated VPN customers. For instance, a provider might assign the route distinguisher '65000:100' to a VRF so its routes are distinguishable from another customer VRF using the same 10.0.0.0/8 address range.
