Description: The number of RIP response packets received by the RIP process which were subsequently discarded for any reason (e.g. a version 0 packet, or an unknown command type).
What is csRipIfStatRcvBadPackets?
This Counter32 counts RIP response packets received on this interface that had to be discarded, for reasons such as being a version 0 packet or carrying an unknown command type. A rising count on one specific interface points to a malformed or incompatible RIP sender attached there. An admin seeing this counter climb after connecting a legacy device to a RIP-enabled interface would suspect that device is sending non-conformant RIP packets.
