Description: This object is used to enable greater security for implementation that use global VC label space. In conservative mode, inbound packets with a VC label are accepted only from tunnels that are associated to the same VC via the inbound tunnel table. The entries in the inbound tunnel table are either explicitly configured or implicitly known by the control protocol used for VC set-up.
If such association is not known, not configured or not desired, liberal mode should be configured, and the node should accept the packet based on the VC label only regardless of the outer tunnel used to carry the VC.
What is csPwVcInboundMode?
This object controls whether inbound packets carrying a VC label are accepted from any tunnel (liberal mode) or only from tunnels explicitly associated with this VC via the inbound tunnel table (conservative mode), providing extra security when a global VC label space is in use. Administrators set this to 'conservative' in security-sensitive deployments to prevent label spoofing from an unauthorized tunnel. For example, a provider concerned about traffic injection on a shared MPLS core might configure this object as 'conservative' to ensure only explicitly authorized tunnels can deliver traffic under this VC's label.
