This INTEGER, from 0 to 255, sets the route preference given to routes external to this Autonomous System when learned via OSPF, such as redistributed routes. Because external routes are often less trusted than internally originated ones, this is commonly set higher than csOspfPrefInt so external routes only win when nothing more authoritative exists. An admin noticing a redistributed external OSPF route unexpectedly beating a locally originated static route would check whether this preference value is set too aggressively low.
