A single neighbor with a rapidly climbing event count, while other neighbors on the same interface remain stable, points to a problem specific to that neighbor pair rather than the shared segment. An admin narrowing down an intermittent adjacency flap would compare this counter across all neighbors on the interface to isolate the affected one.
