Description: The variable csOspfAreaSummary controls the im- port of summary LSAs into stub areas. It has no effect on other areas.
If it is noAreaSummary, the router will neither originate nor propagate summary LSAs into the stub area. It will rely entirely on its de- fault route.
If it is sendAreaSummary, the router will both summarize and propagate summary LSAs.
What is csOspfAreaSummary?
This enumerated object, noAreaSummary or sendAreaSummary, controls whether the router imports and propagates summary LSAs into this stub area, with no effect on non-stub areas. Choosing noAreaSummary means the stub area relies entirely on its default route rather than seeing individual inter-area summaries, reducing LSA volume at the cost of visibility. An admin trying to minimize routing overhead on a small branch stub area would set this to noAreaSummary.
