Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB
OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csOrionVPNVRouterTcpConnState
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3085.3.1.4.2.6.2.1.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: INTEGER
Access: read-write
Description: The state of this TCP connection. The only value which may be set by a management station is deleteTCB(12). Accordingly, it is appropriate for an agent to return a `badValue' response if a management station attempts to set this object to any other value.
If a management station sets this object to the value deleteTCB(12), then this has the effect of deleting the TCB (as defined in RFC 793) of the corresponding connection on the managed node, resulting in immediate termination of the connection.
As an implementation-specific option, a RST segment may be sent from the managed node to the other TCP endpoint (note however that RST egments are not sent reliably).
What is csOrionVPNVRouterTcpConnState?
This object reports the current state of a specific TCP connection entry on the virtual router, such as established, closeWait, or timeWait, and unusually can be written by a management station but only to the value deleteTCB(12), which forcibly terminates that connection's control block. Administrators use this to both monitor session state and, when needed, forcibly kill a stuck or misbehaving TCP connection without waiting for it to time out on its own. For example, an operator sets csOrionVPNVRouterTcpConnState to deleteTCB on a session stuck in closeWait for hours, immediately freeing the resources tied up by that stalled connection.
