Description: The number of output IP datagrams for which no problem was encountered to prevent their transmission to their destination, but which were discarded (e.g., for lack of buffer space). Note that this counter would include datagrams counted in ipForwDatagrams if any such packets met this (discretionary) discard criterion.
What is csOrionVPNVRouterIpOutDiscards?
This Counter64 counts outbound datagrams the virtual router had no transmission problem with but still discarded, for example due to a lack of buffer space, and it also covers forwarded packets that were dropped for the same discretionary reason. It signals outbound congestion or resource pressure on that specific virtual router rather than a routing failure. A jump in this counter during a peak traffic window on one VPN's virtual router points to output-side queuing exhaustion for that instance.
