csOrionL2tpTunnelAuthentication

Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB

OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csOrionL2tpTunnelAuthentication

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3085.3.1.6.13.2.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: This object controls the tunnel authentication. If set to Enable, a challenge will be sent to the peer during tunnel creation. The tunnel will be torn down if the peer does not send a valid response. Regardless of the setting, if the peer sends a challenge during tunnel creation, a response will be sent.

What is csOrionL2tpTunnelAuthentication?

This read-only INTEGER (enable/disable) shows whether this L2TP tunnel challenges its peer during tunnel establishment, tearing the tunnel down if the peer fails to answer validly, while always answering any challenge the peer itself issues regardless of this setting. Monitoring it tells an admin whether a given tunnel is running with mutual challenge security or accepting the peer's identity unchallenged. For instance, seeing enable(1) on a tunnel to a partner LNS confirms that a rogue device could not spoof that peer without knowing the shared secret.
