This read-only Gauge32 reports the number of L2TP sessions currently active across the whole device at the moment of polling. It's the aggregate real-time subscriber count an operator watches for overall load and capacity planning. A gauge that plateaus at a level well below expected subscriber counts during peak hours would be worth correlating with session failure counters to find where sessions are being lost.
