csOc3SectionJ0

Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB

OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csOc3SectionJ0

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3085.3.1.3.3.1.1.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This object identifies the section trace byte (j0) used on this OC3 port. If this object is set to hex01(1), the value sent within the j0 (section trace byte) element of the frame header is 0x01. This value should be set for interoperability with some SDH devices in Japan. If this object is set to hexCC(2), the value of the j0 element is 0xcc. This is the default value and should be used in the majority of cases.

What is csOc3SectionJ0?

csOc3SectionJ0 is a read-write setting choosing the value sent in the SONET section-trace byte (J0) of this OC3 port's frame header, either hex01 (for interoperability with some Japanese SDH gear) or the default hexCC used in the majority of cases. Some far-end SDH equipment expects a specific J0 value and will flag a trace mismatch or section alarm if this doesn't match, so it's worth checking when interoperating with unusual regional equipment. For example, when connecting this OC3 port to an SDH switch in Japan that expects the older trace-byte convention, an admin sets csOc3SectionJ0 to hex01 instead of leaving it at the default hexCC.
