csOc3PathCurrentStatus

Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB

OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csOc3PathCurrentStatus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3085.3.1.3.3.5.1.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: This variable indicates the status of the interface. The sonetPathCurrentStatus is a bit map represented as a sum, therefore, it can represent multiple defects simultaneously. The sonetPathNoDefect should be set if and only if no other flag is set.

The various bit positions are: 1 sonetPathNoDefect 2 sonetPathSTSLOP 4 sonetPathSTSAIS 8 sonetPathSTSRDI 16 sonetPathUnequipped 32 sonetPathSignalLabelMismatch

What is csOc3PathCurrentStatus?

csOc3PathCurrentStatus is a read-only bitmap value, encoded as a sum including bits such as sonetPathSTSLOP, sonetPathSTSAIS, sonetPathSTSRDI, and sonetPathUnequipped, reporting the current defect status of the SONET/SDH Path layer on this OC3 port, able to flag multiple simultaneous conditions. The Unequipped bit in particular is a useful diagnostic distinct from a signal fault, since it means the far end hasn't provisioned any payload into this path at all, which an admin would otherwise mistake for a transmission problem. For example, if csOc3PathCurrentStatus reports only the sonetPathUnequipped bit with none of the AIS or RDI bits set, an admin knows the far-end carrier simply hasn't activated the path yet, rather than there being an active transmission fault to chase.
