Description: Can we send unpadded hellos on LAN circuits? Off means LAN Hellos must be padded.

What is csIsisCircSmallHellos?

This read-create operational-state value controls whether this router is allowed to send unpadded IS-IS hello PDUs on LAN circuits, with the state being off meaning LAN hellos must be padded to the full MTU. Padding hellos to full size lets routers detect MTU mismatches between neighbors before real traffic is affected, so disabling small hellos is a common interoperability safeguard. An administrator might turn csIsisCircSmallHellos on for a well-understood, uniform-MTU LAN segment to reduce the bandwidth consumed by padded hello PDUs on a large broadcast domain with many IS-IS neighbors.
