Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB

OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csIsisCircLocalID

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: An identification that can be used in protocol packets to identify a circuit. Implementations may devise ways to assure that this value is suitable for the circuit it is used on. LAN packets only have space for 8 bits.

Values of csIsisCircLocalID do not need to be unique. They are only required to differ on LANs where the Intermediate System is the Designated Intermediate System.

What is csIsisCircLocalID?

This read-only object provides an identifier used in protocol packets to identify this circuit, noted to only need to differ from other circuits on LANs where this system is the Designated Intermediate System, since LAN packets only have room for 8 bits of this value. Administrators generally don't need to configure this directly but may reference it when decoding IS-IS packet captures. For example, an engineer decoding a packet capture on a LAN segment uses csIsisCircLocalID to correlate a captured Hello PDU with the specific circuit entry it came from on this Designated Intermediate System.
