This object sets the maximum period, in milliseconds, between Level 1 IIH PDUs on multiaccess networks, also used as the Hello period on point-to-point circuits, following resettingTimer behavior. Administrators shorten this to speed up neighbor-down detection at the cost of more Hello traffic, or lengthen it to reduce overhead on a bandwidth-constrained circuit. For example, an engineer shortens csIsisCircL1HelloTimer on a critical point-to-point circuit to detect a neighbor failure more quickly, accepting the modest increase in Hello PDU frequency.
