csFRoIPCircuitReceivedBECNs

Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB

OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csFRoIPCircuitReceivedBECNs

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3085.3.1.6.12.3.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: Number of frames received from the network indicating backward congestion since the virtual circuit was created. This occurs when the remote DTE sets the BECN flag, or when a switch in the network receives the frame from a trunk whose transmission queue is congested.

What is csFRoIPCircuitReceivedBECNs?

This read-only Counter32 counts frames received over this virtual circuit that carry the Backward Explicit Congestion Notification flag, set either by the remote DTE or by a switch receiving the frame from a congested trunk. An admin watches a rising BECN count as a signal that traffic sent from this end is experiencing congestion somewhere downstream. For example, seeing this circuit's BECN counter increase alongside application slowness for traffic going out this circuit would confirm network congestion rather than a local device problem.
