Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB

OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csFRoIPCircuitExcessBurst

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3085.3.1.6.12.3.1.12

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-create

Description: This variable indicates the maximum amount of uncommitted data bits that the network will attempt to deliver over the measurement interval.

By default, if not configured when creating the entry, the Excess Information Burst Size is set to the value of ifSpeed.

What is csFRoIPCircuitExcessBurst?

This read-create Integer32 (0 to 2,147,483,647 bits) sets the excess burst size, Be, the maximum uncommitted data bits the network will attempt, but not guarantee, to deliver over the measurement interval, defaulting to the value of ifSpeed if not explicitly configured. An admin raises this to allow the circuit to burst above its committed rate when spare network capacity is available, accepting those extra frames may be marked discard-eligible. For example, a circuit carrying bursty backup traffic might have this excess burst value increased to take advantage of occasional network headroom beyond the committed rate.
