csDot1dTpLearnedEntryDiscards

Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB

OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csDot1dTpLearnedEntryDiscards

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3085.3.1.4.2.2.5.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: The total number of Forwarding Database entries, which have been or would have been learnt, but have been discarded due to a lack of space to store them in the Forwarding Database. If this counter is increasing, it indicates that the Forwarding Database is regularly becoming full (a condition which has unpleasant performance effects on the subnetwork). If this counter has a significant value but is not presently increasing, it indicates that the problem has been occurring but is not persistent.

What is csDot1dTpLearnedEntryDiscards?

A running count of forwarding-database entries that were discarded, or would have been learned, because the FDB table ran out of space. A rising counter signals the bridge's MAC table is chronically full, which degrades forwarding performance on that subnetwork. An admin sees csDot1dTpLearnedEntryDiscards climbing steadily and concludes the FDB size needs to be increased or aging tuned down to free space faster.
