csAtmInterfaceConfMyNeighbourIfName

Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB

OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csAtmInterfaceConfMyNeighbourIfName

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3085.3.1.3.5.1.1.16

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-write

Description: The textual name of the interface on the neighbor system on the far end of this interface, and to which this interface connects. If the neighbor system is manageable through SNMP and supports the object ifName, the value of this object must be identical with that of ifName for the ifEntry of the lowest level physical interface for this port. If this interface does not have a textual name, the value of this object is a zero length string. Note that the value of this object may be obtained in different ways, e.g., by manual configuration, or through ILMI interaction with the neighbor system.

What is csAtmInterfaceConfMyNeighbourIfName?

This read-write DisplayString (0 to 255 characters) records the textual interface name used on the neighboring system at the far end of this ATM link, matching that neighbor's ifName if it is SNMP-manageable. An admin populates this to keep a clear mapping of which local ATM interface connects to which named port on the remote device. For example, seeing csAtmInterfaceConfMyNeighbourIfName populated as 'GigE0/1' tells the admin exactly which port on the neighboring switch this ATM interface is cabled to.
