Module: COSINE-ORION-MIB

OID (symbolic): COSINE-ORION-MIB::csAtmInterfaceConfMyIfName

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.3085.3.1.3.5.1.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-write

Description: A textual name of this interface. if this system is manageable through SNMP, and supports the object ifName, the value of this object must be identical with that of ifName for the ifEntry of the lowest level physical interface for this port. This interface must be uniquely named on this system to distinguish parallel links with a neighboring system. if this interface does not have a textual name, the value of this object is a zero length strin.

What is csAtmInterfaceConfMyIfName?

This read-write DisplayString (0 to 255 characters) gives a textual name for this ATM interface, and if this system supports ifName it must match the ifName of the lowest-level physical interface for this port so parallel links to the same neighbor can be told apart. An admin sets it to a unique, meaningful label especially when multiple links connect to the same remote system. For example, an admin with two parallel ATM links to the same neighboring switch would name them distinctly, such as 'atm-link-1' and 'atm-link-2', so the neighbor relationship objects clearly distinguish them.
