Description: This object is used to set the upper protocol. For PPP over ATM this is set to 'ppp'. For PPP over Ethernet this is set to 'pppoe'. NOTE: This object cannot be set to 'ip'. Only when a VI is connected to this interface that it becomes 'ip'.
What is csAtmConnUpperProtocol?
This enumerated value (none, ip, ppp, pppoe) sets the upper-layer protocol running over this ATM connection, used for PPP over ATM by setting ppp, or PPP over Ethernet by setting pppoe, with the note that it cannot be set directly to ip and only becomes ip once a virtual interface attaches. An admin configures this to establish the encapsulation model for the circuit. For example, an admin building a PPPoE-based broadband access service over ATM would set csAtmConnUpperProtocol to pppoe(4) rather than trying to configure ip directly.
