An administrator monitors this to detect unexpectedly high MAC counts on a subscriber-facing bridge, which could indicate multiple devices behind a single connection or a misbehaving customer network. For example, if a residential DSL line's cmVBridgeNMAC climbs far beyond what a single household router would generate, the operator might investigate a policy violation or a loop on the customer's side.
