This read-only Counter tracks the number of CPE responses to training sequences seen on the port, whether or not those responses led to a successful train, starting at zero at power-up and resetting when the data rate changes or the operator clears it. An admin uses it to tell whether a CPE is present and talking at all, even if training itself is failing. For example, a nonzero CPE-response count combined with zero successful trains suggests the CPE is alive and responding but something else (like a mismatched CPE code) is blocking a successful train.
