Operationally, it flags oversized frames arriving at the customer's own DSL interface, useful for isolating whether an oversize problem originates on the customer side of the link. For example, seeing this count rise only on the CPE side, not at the head end, suggests a device the customer recently connected is generating oversized frames locally.
