Operationally, aborts seen from the CPE's own perspective help confirm whether instability reported by the customer matches what the head-end side is also recording. For example, matching a spike in this CPE-side abort count to the same hour as a head-end abort spike confirms the instability is affecting the whole link, not just one end's counters.
