cmBoardCommand is a read-write enumeration that, on a SET, issues a per-board command such as restart(1), and on a GET reports the last command that was issued to that specific card. An administrator uses this to restart a single misbehaving line card remotely instead of rebooting the whole chassis with cmSysCommand. For example, if a DSL line card stops responding to new subscriber logins, the operator would SET cmBoardCommand to restart(1) on just that board's table entry to reset it without affecting other cards.
