cmAlarmSamplingInterval

Module: COPPER-MOUNTAIN-NETWORKS-DSL-MIB

OID (symbolic): COPPER-MOUNTAIN-NETWORKS-DSL-MIB::cmAlarmSamplingInterval

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1996.20.13.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The value of this object specfies the sampling interval, in minutes, for performance metrics collection in the cmDslIntervalTable, dsx3IntervalTable, and dsx3FarEndIntervalTable in the system. The minimum value for this object is 5 minutes. The recommended values are 5, 15, and 60 minutes.

The value of this object will affect the amount of data collected in the cmDsl24HrTable, the dsx3TotalTable, and the dsx3FarEndTotalTable. If the SamplingInterval is less than 15 minutes, then each of these tables will contain 96*SamplingInterval minutes worth of summed data.

If the SamplingInterval is greater than 15 minutes, these tables will contain some multiple of SamplingInterval such that the total is closest to, but not less than, 24 hours. (For example, with a SamplingInterval of 17 minutes, these tables will contain 85 intervals = 1445 minutes = 24 hrs and 5 minutes worth of data.)

Default: 15 minutes.

What is cmAlarmSamplingInterval?

cmAlarmSamplingInterval is a read-write integer setting the sampling interval in minutes (minimum 5, recommended 5, 15, or 60) used for performance-metrics collection across several interval-based tables including cmDslIntervalTable and dsx3IntervalTable. An administrator adjusts this to balance the granularity of collected performance history against the amount of data retained in the corresponding 24-hour history tables. For example, an operator wanting finer-grained DSL performance history would set cmAlarmSamplingInterval to 5 minutes instead of 60, at the cost of shorter total history coverage in the 24-hour tables.
