Description: The value of the priority field which is contained in the first (in network byte order) octet of the (2 octet long) Port ID. The other octet of the Port ID is given by the value of dot1dStpPort.
What is hpSwitchStpPortPriority?
This read-write integer (0-255) sets the priority field forming the first octet of the port's STP Port ID, with the second octet coming from dot1dStpPort. Admins lower this value on a port they want STP to prefer as the designated or root path when multiple ports could serve the same role. For example, an admin with two redundant uplinks would set a lower hpSwitchStpPortPriority on the preferred uplink so STP favors it over the backup.
