hpSwitchProbedPortMask

Module: CONFIG-MIB

OID (symbolic): CONFIG-MIB::hpSwitchProbedPortMask

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.5.1.7.1.9.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: OCTET STRING

Access: read-write

Description: This variable specifies a group of ports which will be probed. Each octet within the value of this object specifies a set of eight ports, with the first octet specifying ports 1 through 8, the second octet specifying ports 9 through 16, etc. Within each octet, the most significant bit represents the lowest numbered port, and the least significant bit represents the highest numbered port. Thus, each port of the switch is represented by a single bit within the value of this object.

What is hpSwitchProbedPortMask?

This read-write OCTET STRING bitmap specifies which group of ports will have their traffic mirrored, with each octet covering eight ports and the most significant bit representing the lowest-numbered port in that octet's range, mirroring the same encoding used by hpSwitchFilterPortMask. Admins set it when using port-based (rather than VLAN-based) probing to select exactly which ports get captured. For example, an admin wanting to mirror only ports 9 through 12 would set the corresponding bits in the second octet of hpSwitchProbedPortMask.
