Description: IPX RIP/SAP control. If this feature is enabled then IPX RIP/SAP packets will only be forwarded on ports, within its VLAN domain, that have previously seen RIP/SAP packets. If this feature is disabled then IPX RIP and SAP packets seen by a given port will be forwarded to all ports within its VLAN domain.
What is hpSwitchABCConfigIpxRipSapControl?
This read-write enumeration enables or disables IPX RIP/SAP control for a VLAN; when enabled, those packets are only forwarded to ports that have previously seen RIP/SAP traffic, and when disabled, they're flooded to every port in the VLAN. Admins enable it on legacy IPX networks to limit unnecessary RIP/SAP broadcast flooding. For example, an admin running a shrinking Novell IPX deployment would enable hpSwitchABCConfigIpxRipSapControl to keep RIP/SAP chatter confined to the ports that actually need it.
