copyUserPassword

Module: CONFIG-COPY-MIB

OID (symbolic): CONFIG-COPY-MIB::copyUserPassword

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.1.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-create

Description: Password used by ftp, sftp or scp for copying a file to/from an ftp/sftp/scp server. This object must be created when the copyProtocol is ftp or scp. Reading it returns a zero-length string for security reasons.

What is copyUserPassword?

This read-create string (1-40 characters) supplies the password used to authenticate ftp, sftp, or scp transfers, and reads back as a zero-length string for security even after being set. Admins configure it alongside copyUserName so the device can complete an authenticated file transfer. For example, an admin automating config backups to an FTP server would set copyUserPassword once when creating the copy row, knowing a later SNMP read will never reveal it.
