Module: COMTROL-ES8510-MIB

OID (symbolic): COMTROL-ES8510-MIB::portMirrorDestinationPortTX

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2882.2.1.1.11.3.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: The TX destination port (sniffer port).

Destination port can be used to see all monitor port traffic. You can connect sniffer port to a LAN analysier or netxray. Set to 0 to clear the configuration. A destination port can not be the same as a source port.

This object can not be modified if portMirrorStatus is disable.

What is portMirrorDestinationPortTX?

This read-write integer (0-10) selects which port receives a copy of transmitted traffic for port mirroring, i.e. the sniffer port for TX, and cannot be set to the same port used as a source, nor changed while portMirrorStatus is disabled. Admins use it to attach a protocol analyzer or IDS to see everything a monitored port sends. For example, setting portMirrorDestinationPortTX to port 8 lets an admin plug a laptop running Wireshark into port 8 to capture outbound traffic from a suspect server port.
