Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Some of the rapid state transactions that are possible within RSTP are dependent upon whether the Port concerned can only be connected to exactly one other Bridge(ie., it is served by a point-to-point LAN segment), or can be connected to two or more Bridges(i.e., it is served by a shared medium LAN segment). The adminPointToPointMAC allow the p2p status of the link to be manipulated adminitratively.

What is mstpPerPortCfgLinkType?

This read-write setting tells MSTP whether to treat this port's link as point-to-point, shared, or auto-detected, the same distinction RSTP uses to decide whether rapid state transitions are safe to use. An admin forces point2Point on direct inter-switch trunk links within an MST region so those links converge quickly after a topology change. For example, forcing point2Point(2) on the trunk connecting two switches in the same MST region lets that link use rapid transitions instead of waiting through timer-based convergence during a failover.
