Description: Present in implementations that support the identification of edge ports. All ports directly connected to end stations cannot create bridging loops in the network and can thus directly transition to forwarding, skipping the listening and learning stages.

What is mstpPerPortCfgEdgePort?

This read-write setting marks a port as an edge port under MSTP, letting it skip the listening and learning states just as stpPerPortCfgEdgePort does for classic RSTP, since it directly connects an end device incapable of creating a loop. An admin sets this true on ports feeding non-switch devices within an MSTP-enabled network. For example, marking the port connected to a network printer as an edge port lets that printer's connection come up immediately under MSTP too, avoiding the delay a non-edge port would incur.
