Description: The default gateway IP address identifies the gateway (for example, a router) that receives and forwards those packets whose addresses are unknown to the local network. The agent uses the default gateway address when sending alert packets to the management workstation on a network other than the local network.
What is ipConfigurationGateway?
This read-write value sets the default gateway IP address the switch uses to reach devices outside its local subnet. This is critical for the switch to successfully deliver SNMP traps or alerts to a management station that sits on a different network segment. For example, if the network management server lives on a different subnet than the switch, the admin must set this gateway correctly or the switch's trap notifications will never reach that server.
