Description: Parameter configuring the first DNS server of the device.
The domain name system (DNS) stores and associates many types of information with domain names. Most importantly, it translates domain names (computer hostnames) to IP addresses, which makes it possible to attach easy-to-remember domain names to hard-to-remember IP addresses (such as 100.50.10.100).
What is ipConfigurationDNS1?
This read-write value configures the primary DNS server the switch uses to resolve hostnames to IP addresses. Setting this lets the switch use hostname-based configuration, for example an NTP or TFTP server specified by name, rather than requiring raw IP addresses everywhere. For example, an admin who wants the switch to reach an internal server by hostname would point this OID at the organization's primary DNS server address.
