Module: COMTROL-ES8510-MIB

OID (symbolic): COMTROL-ES8510-MIB::igmpSnoopingEntryStatus

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2882.2.1.1.7.2.2.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The state of igmp snooping functionality on a vlan. Set to enabled(1) indicates that igmp snooping is enabled on the vlan. When igmpSnoopingStatus is also turned on, each IGMP packets on the vlan will be processed. When disabled(2) with igmpSnoopingStatus enabled, igmp packets will not be processed and be propagated to other member ports of the vlan. A transition from disabled(2) to enabled(1) will cause a reset of all igmp snooping information on this vlan.

What is igmpSnoopingEntryStatus?

This read-write setting enables or disables IGMP snooping on a specific VLAN, which only takes effect when the global igmpSnoopingStatus is also enabled. An admin uses this to limit snooping overhead to just the VLANs that actually carry multicast traffic. For example, enabling snooping only on VLAN 30, the video VLAN, while leaving it disabled on other VLANs focuses the switch's filtering effort where it's actually needed.
