Module: COMTROL-ES8510-MIB

OID (symbolic): COMTROL-ES8510-MIB::factoryDefaultActive

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2882.2.1.1.2.8.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Set to active(1) to reload factory default configuration. Reloading factory default will overwrite your current configuration file with factocy default configuration while current IP configuration is reserved. Please reboot the device to make factory default configuration take effect. Set notActive(2) has no effect. The system always returns the value notActive(2) when this object is read.

What is factoryDefaultActive?

This read-write setting, when set to active, tells the switch to reload its factory default configuration on next reboot while preserving the current IP settings; reading it always returns notActive. An admin uses this to wipe out accumulated custom configuration, such as VLANs, port settings, and DHCP config, while avoiding losing management connectivity to the device, since the IP address is specifically preserved. For example, after a switch accumulates a confusing tangle of manual changes over time, an admin would set this OID to active and then reboot the device to return it to a clean factory baseline without having to reconfigure the management IP afterward.
