An admin uses forceAuthorized to exempt a device incapable of performing 802.1x, like some network printers, from the authentication requirement enforced on other ports. For example, setting a printer's port to forceAuthorized(2) exempts that non-802.1x-capable device from the authentication requirement enforced on ordinary auto(1) ports elsewhere on the switch.
