What is vmsTotalComp?
This is the total clock ticks all CPUs combined have spent in Compatibility mode since the system was booted, reflecting aggregate legacy PDP-11 compatibility-mode CPU use. An administrator checks this system-wide value to see whether compatibility-mode software use is significant enough across the whole machine to warrant investigation. For example, a nonzero vmsTotalComp on a system believed to be fully migrated off legacy software would prompt the administrator to identify which application is still running in that mode.
