What is vmsStatesMWAIT?
This counter reports the count of processes waiting on some system resource that doesn't fall into VMS's more specific wait-state categories. A growing count here is a catch-all sign of resource contention, prompting the admin to dig into resource quotas, such as AST limits or buffered I/O byte counts, as a starting point. For example, processes waiting for a scarce, uncategorized system quota during a busy period would accumulate in this state count.
