This counter counts MSCP-served I/O requests that transferred exactly one disk block, the smallest possible transfer size. A high proportion of single-block requests indicates the requesting application is doing very fine-grained, potentially inefficient I/O rather than larger sequential transfers. For example, an application reading a file one record at a time without buffering would generate mostly single-block requests counted here.
