What is vmsModeCompat?
This is the number of clock ticks a specific CPU has spent in Compatibility mode since the system was booted, the mode used to run older PDP-11 compatibility-mode software on VAX/VMS. An administrator would check this value to determine whether legacy compatibility-mode applications are still consuming CPU time on the system. For example, finding nonzero vmsModeCompat ticks would tell the administrator that some old PDP-11-compatible software is still actively running rather than having been fully retired.
