This counter counts directory lookup operations this node sent to other cluster members to determine which node masters a given lock resource. A rising outgoing count shows this node frequently needs to consult the cluster's distributed lock directory for resources it doesn't already know the master of. For example, a process here accessing a cluster-shared resource for the first time would trigger an outgoing directory lookup counted here to find its master node.
