This counter counts DECnet packets originated by local processes on this node and sent out onto the network. Comparing arriving versus departing local packet counts helps an admin understand whether this node is primarily a DECnet traffic source or a traffic sink. For example, if this counter climbs sharply while a user runs a DECnet-based remote copy pushing files outward, that outbound activity shows up here.
