This counter counts requests to change, upgrade or downgrade, the access mode of an existing lock, where the request both originates and is resolved on this node. Conversions are cheaper than brand-new lock requests, so tracking them locally helps the admin distinguish routine lock-mode changes from new resource contention. For example, a process moving from a shared read lock to an exclusive write lock on its own local resource would register as a local conversion here.
